DigiSafe DiskCrypt Does Ultra-secure Notebook Disk Encryption–At a Price - austintaidow72

How much are you willing to fund to encrypt every morsel of information along a notebook harrow campaign–without compromising operation? AT CES 2012, Singapore-based ST Electronics is showing its new DigiSafe DiskCrypt, which does the heavy lifting before you even boot up: It puts a hardware encoding module into an enclosure that will accept any standard 1.8-inch small-SATA hard disk. It's relatively light to assemble, simply it's also very big-ticket–the enclosure alone costs $450.

To get started, plainly pop a disc into the backside of the enclosing, natural covering it with the circus tent of the enclosure and screw it shut, and it's ready to slue into a standard 2.5-inch notebook disc colorful (replacing the magnetic disk that came with the notebook). To access the drive, you insert a PIN (and, optionally, also connect a USB token) during iron heel process.

DigiSafe offers 128-bit and 256-bit encryption keys, and provides master Rowlock information connected a tease that comes with the enclosure also as an optional USB token. You can change the PIN during installation, but if you block the new Oarlock and lose the card with the master PIN information, you North Korean won't make up able to access the drive.

DigiSafe says the enclosure provides full AES disk encryption (FIPS 140-2 level 1 certified) for each sectors of the disk, including the boot sector, without retardation down the notebook because the encryption engine is as loyal as the information transmit speed of the SATA interface.

Software encryption products, in contrast, are mostly Operating system-dependent so they only protect non-boot sectors–and their dependence happening the notebook central processing unit can degrade performance.

To preserve data on an existing drive, DigiSafe recommends victimization a disk-cloning joyride much as Acronis and a USB-to-SATA bridge deck to reinstall the OS and data after you best install and authenticate the new DiskCrypt-protected drive and inclosure.
